To solidify a fleeting, melting moment and highlight a relationship between the soft and the solid. The rituals and culture around the eating of sweet food continue to fascinate me. An undercurrent of competitiveness, anxiety, consumerism and performance is usually lurking beneath the surface of a three-tiered ombre butter cream piñata cake."

Anna Barlow is a British ceramic artist who is known internationally for her realistic and visually stunning ceramic sculptures of ice cream, cakes and other sweet foods. Sculptures that she uses to tell stories and to build a fantasy around food. Over a decade long career, Barlow has developed extraordinary skill in combining traditional techniques with those developed by her, to imbue her sculptures with a deep realism and beauty. A realism that draws the viewer to almost taste the artwork. She currently lives and works in London.
